I believe it is due to him expecting to hear from scouts that they could use one more year of game film on him to prove that his technique has matured.

First round is not what it used to be with the slotting. He would be better off leaving now so he can get to the second contract sooner, even if he is a second or third round pick. The second contract is where the money is now.
