Two old school movies but have the best surround effects.

Days of Thunder - when they are standing in the middle of the track as Rowdy is starting his laps. It's right after Robert Duvall says "Now there is a race car driver". The sound goes all the way around the room as the car goes around the track.

12 Monkeys - the scene where Bruce Willis is in a cell and someone is talking to him. He asks where they are and as the person answers it goes to the different speakers as he is stating the different places he may be. I may be in the next room, or I may just be in your head, etc, etc, etc. Makes your skin crawl.

That gives me an idea....Rush would be great to listen to with surround sound speakers. Not the band, but the movie with Chris Hemsworth as a F1 driver. Awesome movie. Basically is the dramatic version of Talladega Nights

This is what I was coming to post.

Almost 30 years later and there is still no better test for a sound system.

I wore that laserdisc out

I went to Costco and bought a system with a sub-woofer after watching Backdraft (1991) on a buddy's home theater system. The opening is awesome. Lawnmower man (1992) was another early 90's movie that had great sound. When I watched the DVD, I wished I had seen it in the theater. Another 90's movie that has a great soundtrack is Dangerous Ground (1997), especially "The World Is Mine". Heat (1995) is another one. Nearly any Science Fiction needs to be played loud, on a good system.

When the digitally remastered Star Wars VHS's came out, I thought they had good sound. I've mentioned on here before, how back in the early 90's I'd crank up the sound for the Dolby "The audience is listening".

It's crazy how much better the sound got with digital receivers and DVD's.
