They are, but they are obviously not weighted heavily.

Fact of the matter is, UGA and Bama both lost to one team, Auburn. UGA lost to them MUCH worse, but got the rematch solely because they were in the opposite division.

You're going to leave a team out because they are in the west vs the east and can't get a rematch for that one reason?

If LSU was Alabama in this scenario, everyone would be touting the system.

People are just mad Alabama got in.

They haven't mattered the last couple of years, but look back to the TCU/Baylor debacle. Had the Big 12 had a conf champ game, winner of that game would have gotten in. But because they didn't play, the committee left them both out.

Conf champ games can matter. They just haven't these last couple years.
