I was a big supporter of hiring Jimbo in 2015. I think his greatest value would be at LSU, where our glaring weakness has been identifying and developing QBs. We always have defensive talent and at the skill positions on offense outside of QB.
But, if LSU had signed Jimbo after a 5-6 season with the talent he had at FSU, preseason #2, to the largest contract in the history of CFB, after paying Sumlin 10 mil in addition to Jimbo's buyout, I would be inclined to limit my financial support to them.
I mean your administration was stupid enough to think a Sumlin offense could ever win the SEC, and when an opposing DC shut that offense down, you threw money at him, so he could in turn not even produce a competitive game vs that team.
A&M hasn't really struggled finding good QBs, so I'm not sure Jimbo is going to really have the same impact he would have had at LSU. I expect him to improve the running game, which will in turn, at least give your defense a fighting chance. Our series should get a bit more competitive, but his hiring still doesn't have Saban-like effects, yet you're stuck with a Sabanesque financial commitment which has followed a long history of bad management already.
