FIL gift/ Game camera

FIL has some land that is sorta residential, but still out side the city limits (10 acres) surrounded by other 10 acres tracts.
I wanted to get him a game camera just to see if any cats/dogs/panthers are crossing his path.
What is a good one, not looking to get crazy since it is just for fun.
I have looked but they all seem to have mixed reviews (under 100$ ones), and I know nothing about game cameras.
Thanks for your help

I’ve had good luck with Primos

Browning or Moultrie make some good reasonably priced cameras. The ones with the viewing screen inside make them more user friendly and easier to set up. I’d go with a IR camera. I prefer the black/no flash IR cameras but it does shorten the flash range and hampers the clarity slightly. You can get a last year camera model that was top dog and probably in the $200 range for $80-$90, similar to any other electronic line. I’d stay far away from wildgame cameras.

I have a $75 Moultrie I use, it's simple.
Set the times, insert card, go to woods and strap to tree, turn on. Boom - deer , coyote, fox, etc etc etc pics
