No such thing. There is no good/evil. There is only survival/death. If good deeds will help you survive long enough to propogate your genes then you have succeeded in nature. It’s simply a means to an end

You're better than this. That's such a reductionist fedora-tipping statement meant either to be purposefully obtuse or rationalize evil.

True, but not in the sense that you seem to think. Murdering, raping, and stealing might seem like it would increase your odds in propagation, but there's a reason why people have banned together and created communities with a rule of law to keep order. It's much more efficient than running around doing the aforementioned behaviors.

The reason we currently live in a society stable enough to create cars, computers, hospitals, etc. is because of the rule of law. A society where everyone raped and pillaged wouldn't be stable enough to produce anything we currently enjoy.

If you're shortsighted behaving in whichever way that benefits you the most might seem like the best course of action, but things don't always go your way. Maybe you run across someone who's bigger and stronger than you? It'd help to have friends to help defend you but since your a murder and a rapist no one trusts you enough to be around you... So you get killed. Maybe you're out hunting for your own food and fall out of a tree and break your leg. You could depend upon friends to help provide for you but since no one trusts you you'll just starve.

There are countless examples of why its better to work in groups as opposed to being solo. And having stability in a group requires some sort of moral code. You can look at the most successful societies and see which moral codes work the best.
