This has a great taste.
Question: what is the difference between a porter and stout? I've always thought that they were the same thing basically. The bartender told me I was wrong.

I can be wrong but there are stronger porters that more resemble stouts. Some of it has to do with the grain bill, temps, etc. during brewing.

My understanding is the Porter is to Stout as Pale Ale is to IPA. A Porter is a lighter version of the stout.
ETA: Just noticed that Great Notion's guest tap is Melvin's IPA, in case you want something more traditional.
