Agreed. I called him a game manager early, but he’s changed my mind big time.

quote:Because QBs in the NFL always lead their team in rushing yards for a season. Totally normal thing, guys!!!
Insert team here got so many total yards, insert quarter back here accounted for a high percentage. Not that special imho.

quote:I wouldn't say always. Pretty sure those 1st couple of seasons SEA was last or very near last in pass attempts. He was certainly being asked to just manage the game then, but he was managing it very well and clearly good enough to be more than a game manager, but they were not using him that way.
He's always been asked to do a lot. Game managers are asked to do as little as possible.
The last couple of seasons though, he's obviously taking on a different role than he did early in his career.
And this season with leading his team in carries and rushing yards, he's basically the entire offense on an offense that is ranked 7th in total yards. It's pretty darn remarkable.

Well yeah he's a manager

I look forward to the day when Seattle has a proper OLINE and a decent running game again.
With that being said, that near touchdown to Jimmy Graham during the 1st half was vintage Russell Wilson.
Also, I expected more out of Ethan Pocic during his rookie season. I hope that dude can improve at guard.

Incredible throw, but par for the course for RW. We had spies on him all night too.

I've never considered him a game manager but I've been watching him do shite like last night since NC State.

Add in the 100 or so rush attempts every season. You can't just look at pass attempts.
He's always been asked to do a lot.

Russell Wilson spent most of his career playing in a unique ground oriented attack. I don’t know what the situation is now but there isn’t a qb i would take over wilson right now.
Hes drew brees with wheels and a stronger arm and much much younger

They still lost, right? Just checking.
He was great though. Some of those runs diving for first downs were awesome.

A lot of insight from just reading box scores.

i watched him play a lot. people don't lose his skills overnight.
qbs in their 20s don't lose velocity without suffering a serious injury. i'm not sure how you lose accuracy. speed, well that's another thing.

Only bumped this bc I'm watching ath and someone argued that daks regression this year is specifically bc Tyron Smith is out. It's crazy how many excuses are made and credit is given for other QBs that Wilson doesn't get. Even if they lose every remaining game he's the only reason they won 6 games.
Keenums lighting it up. As opposed to they are protecting him with the running game and he plays with a great defense, the usual Wilson narrative.
Goff is so much better, it's not that he has a great playcaller, great running game, improved oline, and great defense, which is why people always made "excuses" for Wilson's success
Carr- I've heard so many reasons why they regressed, d, oline play, signing Lynch, playcalling, I know he was hurt but Wilson's never missed a game or even a practice I think
Dak- 1 olineman is out and he loses Zeke and it's okay that he sucks now? Russ loses Carson, Prosise, Rawls, and even this week's practice team promotion Mike Davis went out, Lacy sucks, and their oline is like today's Walmart greeters, they barely look at you as you go by or are leaving with a sack
That's just young qbs
Random bump, sorry msb

The Seattle FO needs to be fired for not surrounding their franchise player with more talent and protection

quote:i know this isn’t really you’re point but doesn’t that stat basically just mean that their running game sucks? Mariota accounted for 98.4% of his team’s total offense against the Steelers this week. Big Ben had 88.5% of the Steelers’ total yards in the game. There are plenty of NFL teams with garbage running games that are basically just as good as their qb allows them to be.
He was 95.56% of the offense.

I think the difference is that as opposed Ben, Wilson is leading his team in rushing. And as opposed to Mariota, Wilson is perennially on a postseason team and usually a SB contender
ETA and it's not Mariotas fault but with the worst oline in the NFL Wilson has never missed a game or practice

Except that both of those teams you mentioned have excellent running games.
Mariota for example, had that much total offense because his poor play got them in a hole that they needed to throw to dig themselves out of. Their entire philosophy is to run the ball to set up the pass. Hard to do that when your QB is throwing picks left and right.
