Easy look at the schools that have been sanctioned the most by the lhsaa in recent years
On the surface this would make sense, but some types of cheating are VERY difficult to prove. Some private high schools have bag men. The bag may have cash, the keys to a car, etc. We all know that it happens, but it would take a kid that is receiving the cash, car etc. to turn them in. Good luck with that! Some public high schools are using “out of district “ referrals from psychiatrists. In short, Superstar Johnny can’t handle being at public school A (which sucks in sports) so his doctor states it would be much better for him psychologically and health-wise to attend public school B (who just so happens to be great in sports (football). The list of alleged violators is a list of most of the dominant programs in the state. Besides, even when they are caught...nothing really happens. The LHSAA, much like the NCAA, turns a blind eye towards its cash cows. Many morons on here have said this is a private/public issue, but the reality is it is a cheater vs rule follower issue. Go look at the votes, most of the smaller private schools voted for the split. Why wouldn’t they. What small school, that is playing within the rules, would want to play a cheating powerhouse. At this point the split is here to stay and that’s that. FWIW, my school is a traditional public school that voted against the split. However, it is a 5A school that has a longstanding tradition in football. Most of the traditional public schools in our area voted for the split, as did most of the smaller private schools. Such is life.
