To be fair he didn't mention recruiting but Wade was in the studio (they had just finished interviewing him) .... so I took that as they were still recruiting Williams. Hanny mentioned it in the shout section of the 104.5 app during his show.

They won't know what the story with Williams will be until the spring. And by then if the charges are dropped there might be a ton of competition for him, and lots of variables could come into play - like for example if Days blows up at IMG like it looks like he will, in which case it might be a little difficult to promise Williams the playing time some of the other schools who'll be jumping in can, and so forth.

Whereas Alok is a kid they can close on now. And the pressure to play him before he turns pro is nothing like it would be with Williams - or at least that's the previous assumption; I don't know if these charges would affect his draft stock and reduce his chances of being a one-and-done.

Of course, the other piece is that they might end up taking both.

To do that would mean somebody on the roster who's scheduled to return, won't. I wouldn't hazard a guess who that might be, though.

Williams just seams like an undersized high energy PF. Someone who would thrive in cbb, but is almost a dime in a dozen in the nba. If the charges never occurred was he really a certain one and done guy?
