This is kinda messed up.

Nothing against Olsen, but the Vikings shouldn’t be thrilled with giving Olsen an inside look at team operations, only three weeks before his current team hosts the Vikings.

Olsen is currently playing for the Panthers, and he’ll be privy to information that no team would want a member of another team to get.
Asked about the dynamic during a Monday press conference, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said, “I’m gonna let higher-ups than me handle that.”
It’s not just the Vikings that should be skittish about this. The Rams don’t play the Panthers during the regular season, but they possibly will meet in the postseason.
It may seem picky, but consider the extent to which teams go to protect their secrets. Indeed, Zimmer’s decision to say anything other than “I’m fine with it, it’s not an issue” suggests that it is. And it will be interesting to see what if anything Zimmer’s higher-ups do about it.

I don't see the issue.

If you want to go into the booth, you need to retire.
It is kind of weird.

Why would the teams reveal any secrets to the broadcast team?
Do they know what broadcast means?

So he's just going to be on the broadcast team?
What about during playoffs when players join the booth?

It's a normal part of the process that carries a professional courtesy on the part of the broadcast team associated with it.

Those on the telecast usually meet with both teams to get insight about the game.

our defense doesn't need insider info to figure out how to beat Case Keenum lol

I could tell it was a Florio article before clicking the link.
How about keep Olsen out of these secret meeting where they tell the announcers about their game plan and future roster moves, and just have Olsen in the booth?

Watch MNF. McDonough and Gruden are the kings of the "In our meetings this week with _________, he told us the team hoped to ___________ over the next few games," or "I would not be surprised if we saw ____________ here."

"What's his name? G-Reg"

I mean he could see just as much by sitting at home watching on tv right?????

I don't really get why an active player, who is currently on the roster of an NFL team, is calling games anyway.

My guess is both teams probably won't reveal much to the crew during any pregame meetings.
Otherwise there is nothing really he can help by just calling game that they won't see on film.
I'm guessing any access to practices would be removed.
