Wonder how you find a punter who is a weapon like the Alabama punter.

This is another position O needs to improve on our roster. We haven't had a real punter since 2011. It's a real weapon to have. We could sceme good yardage as well, or pick up a good rugby kicker.

It's been the law of diminishing returns with Australian punters. Might be time to find a new country to raid.

False false false. I'm tired of hearing that. We've had one good Aussie punter that was worth a damn. Go find a kid who can punt the shite out of it and sign him. Because the ones we have now are inconsistent at best.

Have you guys not been seeing what Von Rosenberg is doing? He is killing it right now. And now that we've switched Growden to just short punts, he's been doing alot better as well.

He's been solid, but "killing it" is a stretch. He's certainly not a weapon for us.

Killing it is what Bama's punter did. That dude is a game changer.

I wish Tiger in NY would chime in, as he is such a Growden advocate and thinks he's actually legit. I told him last year Growden wasn't good enough. One year later, he's now limited punts only around the 50.

Was it really Bamas punter or was it Chark making moronic decisions fielding the ball?

I agree their punter was a weapon. Hang time + distance pinned us back all night. (Chark could have let a few run into the endzone possibly as well).

It would be nice to have a punter like that.

This is a gross over exaggeration. He's been very average. Not bad, but certainly not good either. He's had his share of less than stellar punts. 3 from this last weekend I would qualify as "Bad", but not disastrous.

J.K. Scott was a lot better in the game this past weekend.

Yep and Von Rosenberg is only a freshman(in a grown arse man's body as far as age) and will only get better!

2018 CA LB (ILB/OLB) Merlin Robertson is also a punter (and a heck of a pass receiver/TE).

Four-Star LB Merlin Robertson Sets SEC Visit

We have been watching Serra linebacker Merlin Robertson since he was just a freshman since he's a rare four year starter for the storied Cavs program.

Robertson has always been good but he has taken his game to another level this season and on Friday against traditional state power Long Beach Poly, the athlete had the best game we have ever seen him play.

He did everything well on both sides of the ball and even had a strong game punting. Yes, the 240 pound 'backer is the teams punter but it was what he did on defense and tight end that was eye opening.

Defensively, he was all over the field and seemed to make just about every tackle for the Cavs. He was blitzing off the edge, making stops in the backfield and had several bone jarring hits all over the field. At tight end, he had an incredible 25 yard touchdown catch where he tipped the ball to himself and made the catch falling down with a defender draped all over him.

"I feel great right now, it feels great to get this win," Robertson said after the game. "My adrenaline is still going right now, we needed this one and I'm just really excited for our team."

On the recruiting front, Robertson visited Oklahoma back in September and told us the Sooners were his leader at the time. On Friday, he echoed those comments.

"Oh yeh, OU still leads," Robertson said. "I have a great feeling every time I think about them and they're showing me a ton of love. I talk with Coach (Tim) Kish all the time and he told me I'm still high on their board. I still plan to take more visits but coach Kish said I'll always have a spot there and to take my time and make sure I'm happy with my decision."

Robertson has three other schools in mind for official visits and has one date locked in.

"I'm going to LSU (Nov. 25) for the A&M game," Robertson said. "With LSU, I love their defense and how they play. They're aggressive, fast and physical and I think I would fit in well there. Coach (Dave) Aranda is the one recruiting me and we're real cool and have a good relationship. I visited back in January so I'm looking forward to getting back out there for a game and seeing the atmosphere.

"I also want to visit Oregon and BYU. Coach (Jim) Leavitt is recruiting me from Oregon and he's real cool. He and coach Kish are a lot alike, they're down to earth and always keep it real with you. With BYU, they have been hitting me up a lot and I'm starting to feel them a lot more. It's the church school and I've always maintained interest in them."

As for a timeframe for a decision, Robertson said he's in no hurry right now.

"I want to wait until Signing Day," Robertson said. "I want to enjoy the process and play things out until the end. I want to be sure of my decision.

"The biggest factors for me are where I'm most comfortable, who I have the best relationship with and who shows me they really want me. I want to play in the NFL and support my family so whoever can give me that opportunity is huge for me."

Killing it? Alabama averaged TEN YARDS more than we did, and they were all in the stratosphere. Took Chark completely out of the game. We've sucked since Wing left

Returned for what? Touchdowns? frick, some of you guys hear someone say something on tv during a game and just assume it is gospel. He has had punts returned for yardage this year. But he is special. To just say that we need a Jk Scott punter....the kid is a 2x all SEC and former All american punter. They don't come around that often.
