If OK St wins out I think they will be in. They are solid on both O and D.
They only gave up 17 legitimate points to our offense yesterday

The committee would stick a 3 loss "name brand" in the playoffs before the Cyclones unfortunately.

They aren't losing to WVU
This is no lock here....

It is close on the wins, but the losses kill any argument Iowa State has. Which sucks because would love to see how the committee handles a non-brand that wins a P5 conference.

Dukke, I very much doubt we beat Iowa State. They are well coached and have a good defense. We have neither.

If Texas beat Oklahoma and TCU but lost to Maryland and USC, they'd be flirting with the top ten.

Ohio State, Penn State, or Wisconsin is in.
Alabama or Georgia is in.
Clemson wins out they are in. Same with Miami.
Notre Dame wins out they are in.
Oklahoma State could certainly get in. But they don't control their own destiny. Oklahoma might, though.

Is beating TCU really that impressive of a win? They very well could lose 2 or 3 more games this year
It is right now. The rest is speculation.

What if one loses in the SEC Championship by a last second field goal? Is the committee really going to punish the loser by keeping them out?

thats the rub
if UGA is 12-0, and Bama is 12-0 the committee is going to be praying for a blowout

Unless Miami wins out, which is very unlikely i wouldn't say the Acc is guaranteed a spot. That league is pretty bad this year.

Clemson will get the benefit of the doubt if they win out. Only loss was on the road where they lost their starting QB

What I'm intrigued about is how they would handle UGA losing to GT and then beating Bama in the SECCG.

I think so.
What is the point of having the SECCG if the result doesn't matter? Just like Wisconsin shouldn't get in even if they play the winner of the B1G East close

Right?
You can't say ND will be punished for not playing in one, but then say a team shouldn't be punished for losing one.
Win your conference, then get in.

You have to consider the entire body of work, right? Why should one be punished because they lost the last game as opposed to earlier in the season?
Look at Georgia and Oklahoma for example. Both will have an impressive win: @ Ohio State and @ Notre Dame. Oklahoma lost to Iowa State and let's say that Georgia loses 24-21 to Alabama on a game winning 50 yard field goal. Why should Georgia be bounced out in favor of another team?
The whole point of the Playoff committee is to get the best 4 teams in, right?

Yeah, look at last year's Ohio State team. The committee already has established that winning your conference isn't a necessary criteria to getting in.

Don't even have to be in your conference championship game to get in

It doesn't matter what happens... if UGA beats Bama they are both in... if Bana beats UGA they will be left out..... fact... unless every conference champ has two losses... and don't worry about ND... they will slip up somewhere....

Every year people act surprised when things don't go the way they want.
This isn't hard.
