It doesn’t work that way. NFL teams will draft him according to how they evaluate him. And then he’ll get roughly slot money. It makes no difference what another player does, except maybe move him down 4 or 5 slots - and that doesn’t equate to millions. Maybe $20,000.

Oh my God this is wrong. Fournette was drafted 4 spots ahead of Christian McCaffrey and got 10 MILLION more in his guaranteed contract: $27 million vs. $17 million. Where you are drafted in the first round, especially the top 10, definitely matters.

Here is what I found:

How much does each first round pick make?

Here is a breakdown of what the first-round selections figure to make over the course of a four-year deal:

3. Chicago Bears: $28.1 million contract with $18.6 million signing bonus
4. Jacksonville Jaguars: $27.1 million contract with $17.9 million signing bonus
5. Tennessee Titans (from Los Angeles Rams): $25.4 million contract with $16.6 million signing bonus
6. New York Jets: $22.3 million contract with $14.3 million signing bonus
7. Los Angeles Chargers: $19.7 million contract with $12.5 million signing bonus
8. Carolina Panthers: $17.2 million contract with $10.7 million signing bonus

11. New Orleans Saints: $15.4 million contract with $9.3 million signing bonus
12. Cleveland Browns (from Philadelphia Eagles): $13.9 million contract with $8.2 million signing bonus
13. Arizona Cardinals: $13.5 million contract with $7.9 million signing bonus
14. Philadelphia Eagles (from Minnesota Vikings): $12.8 million contract with $7.5 million signing bonus
15. Indianapolis Colts: $12.6 million contract with $7.3 million signing bonus
16. Baltimore Ravens: $11.8 million contract with $6.8 million signing bonus
17. Washington Redskins: $11.6 million contract with $6.6 million signing bonus
18. Tennessee Titans: $11.3 million contract with $6.3 million signing bonus
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: $11.1 million contract with $6.2 million signing bonus
20. Denver Broncos: $11.0 million contract with $6.2 million signing bonus
21. Detroit Lions: $11.0 million contract with $6.1 million signing bonus
22. Miami Dolphins: $10.8 million contract with $6.0 million signing bonus
23. New York Giants: $10.7 million contract with $5.9 million signing bonus
24. Oakland Raiders: $10.5 million contract with $5.8 million signing bonus
25. Houston Texans: $10.3 million contract with $5.6 million signing bonus
26. Seattle Seahawks: $10.3 million contract with $5.7 million signing bonus
27. Kansas City Chiefs: $10.1 million contract with $5.5 million signing bonus
28. Dallas Cowboys: $10.0 million contract with $5.4 million signing bonus
29. Green Bay Packers: $9.2 million contract with $5.1 million signing bonus

It looks like a $15,000,000 difference between drafted 5th and drafted 10th.
