The Old Blood feels more like a prequel to the new order than it does a stand-alone game.
I don’t think Bethesda has ever called the new colossus by the name Wolfenstein II regardless. Perhaps they have.
Either way, I tend to think of machinegames entries into wolfenstein as their own animal, given the alternate history angle.

Its more of an "expanded DLC". Sort of like W3: Blood and Wine.
It wasn't deep enough to be its own story so used sort of the transition. The story showed piggy backed off the future events you played through in New Order.

Actual play is good, but fricking watch 10 minutes of cut scenes, play for 10 minutes to find out it was a dream and watch 10 more minutes of cut scenes. $20 is max to play for this I would wait for $10.
