Could it be that Dillon is in the slot and doesn’t get bumped as much and the throws are on time as a result?

Never actually thought about this but it's TRUE even if you go back and watch last year tape etling can only throw against quality corners on 50/50 balls. Some of that is the receivers the other part of it is he has to throw his receiver open which I dont think he has the speedy awareness to do.

Can't we just all agree that eating sucks as a person and as a QB, should be kicked off the team, and his name removed from all documentaction?

Just for a second lets all agree that he sucks. That wouldn't change the fact that everyone here that is bashing him suck even worse as LSU fans.

Those qbs you are comparing him to were able to move the chains with intermediate passes and had much better accuracy. Those teams didn’t rely on deep third Hail Mary miracles. Canada will not pass etling across the middle when the game is close or contested.

I haven't read all 17 pages of this thread to know if it's been mentioned or not, but Elting is #15 in QBR in the country, right behind J. Hurts. Whoever said he is the second best QB we have had this decade behind Mett is spot on. He doesn't have a lot of natural tools but he is performing at a high level at #15

J. Lee was one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the nation in 2011, but he lost his job to Jefferson. Did he also perform at a high level?

You say that but the numbers don’t. And since the numbers don’t mean anything to you guys and you’ve opened up the ambiguous context argument then you have to accept the pro Etling context as well.

Etling isn't going to wow anyone with his passes. However, his lack of turnovers and yards per attempt is what gives him such a high QBR number.

In reality, he's the game manager we've long said we needed.

The numbers do not lie. We have one of the weakest passing attacks in America. Etling was severely exposed last year against Bama and nobody is confident about this year either.

Lee didn’t have enough attempts to qualify for any statistical ranking and even so Etlings rating is higher.

Because no one here thinks he sucks as a person. And no one here thinks he should be kicked off the team. Because that's absurd. I've never understood this about the rant. It's possible to be realistic about a player's abilities while still wanting them to do well. The two are not mutually exclusive.

You can’t say the numbers don’t lie while ignoring the numbers dude.

That’s true but Etling has a higher rating that’s been climbing as the seasons progressed. Even with a bad game vs Bama (which btw can’t be worse than Lee’s last Bama game yet I haven’t heard it mentioned) he’ll still almost certainly exceed lees numbers with much more attempts working with much less talent. This is the biggest piece of the puzzle that anti-Etling fans don’t wanna admit. He’s doing this with no protection at all and no pass catchers, and when he uses what he has at his disposal he gets knocked for that too.

Lee was 9-0 as a starter. Led the SEC with 152.0 efficiency and had 13 tds/ 3 int

Lee wasn't one of the most efficient by QBR. He isn't even in the top 122 that year. Did he not play enough to be eligible for the rankings? Possibly. Lee absolutely played at a high level at times that year. For much of the year. He also threw some interceptions and got happy feet against Bama.

What is your point about Lee? Youre taking offense to me saying Elting has performed at a high level? Ok go ahead and think what you think. I choose to focus on the fact that even though we don't have a guy that will win us games, we have one is also not losing them, is absolutely making some excellent plays, and by one unbiased measure he is having an excellent season.

Go Tigers!

You don’t have to convince me I liked Lee but Etlings efficiency is better 156+ and he’s doing it with a lot less. Lee had the top WR in the SEC the second best WR on the planet 5 NFL backs and an A level oline while Etling has a C- Oline who’s an F in pass blocking and 1 WR. You don’t see a difference there? Lee had a nice arm quick release but even his Sr. Year he was gunshy would lock onto 1 guy and get rid of the ball nomatter what was in front of him. Etling has less arm strength but his feet, eyes, pocket presence, mobility and decision making are in another world compared to Lee.

If you think someone "sucks" because they have a different opinion than you, you are actually the one who sucks. They are discussing LSU players on an LSU message board created so people could discuss LSU sports. Just because you don't like or agree with what they are saying i.e. Etling isn't a good quarterback, doesn't make anyone any less of a fan. It just makes you look childish

We scored 7 total points and lost to Mississippi St. We scored zero points in the first half of a game against Troy and subsequently lost. To Troy. Who plays in the Sun Belt conference.
