Idi Amin expelled all Asians in the '70s. And to add insult to injury, he also took all of their shite. Think Hitler and the Jews, except Idi didn't provide transportation to Auschwitz.

Not many people know of or remember Idi Amin. Easily one of the most evil human beings to ever walk the face of the earth. What he did to his own people, especially the Christian population, was almost unfathomable.

Amin expropriated businesses and properties belonging to the Asians and the Europeans and handed them over to his supporters. The businesses were mismanaged, and industries collapsed from lack of maintenance.

That's not too surprising.

It's hard for me to believe that people don't know who he is, but the reality is he went into exile in 1979 and died about 15 years ago.

His coup to overthrow Milton Obote(sp?) was supported, if not orchestrated, by the west. Much of east and central Africa was going communist in the '60s and '70s and Amin was considered to be a better option to western gov than Obote. It didn't take long for them to recognize their mistake.

Amin wasn't as bad as Pol Pot, but he slaughtered several hundred thousand of his own people. The media loved him because he was always saying crazy things and offering his services to other countries, England in particular.
