I've never wished for more ill to befall anyone as much as I pine for the painful ends the developers of such trickery deserve.
What the frick.
Im reading history crap on facebook, next second I'm looking at a fake Amazon page. Then I'm checking out a GCS thread on Tigerdroppings then bam I'm at the play store. I go back to Facebook check out the new newsstory "16 actresses you wouldn't recognize, you can't believe number five" then bam, it's telling me I have computer aids and I need this life saving malware product.
Yet the problem isnt malware, it's a new form of advertising that is designed to get around adblockers. Designed to get around pop up blockers, by using scripts to hijack your browser.
Suddenly the back button no longer works, you have to exit or go forward. This is a trick to get that click.
It's all about that click. Online ads are about getting clicks for money. If getting you to click, by trick works, then you will get tricked.
Looking into it I found it's the brainchild of one company.
Applift. You will note their name come up briefly as your urls change to the spams url.
Googling them you find tech stories of "new ways to get people to view ads they don't want to see".
The new era.
Boy, I sure miss those large single banner ads of the aughts.
