People are so easily triggered these days, a traditional physical bully would've been seen as gross overkill. We're lucky that Flash wasn't restricted to being an online bully, torturing by way of snide comments on Peter's social media accounts.

I feel that. But I feel like one of the big turning points that made spider-man who he was was the fact that he could always stand toe to toe mentally with people but now he can finally match them physically and Flash was always his first test in doing that and then he moved on to bigger and better things. The flash in Homecoming didn't have the physical prowess overtop of regular Peter Parker and still wasn't smarter than him either. He was only able to bully him because he was arbitrarily cool even though there's nothing in what we saw that made him seem any less nerdy than Peter. All of the cool kids were all already on the debate team with Peter and his friends. It makes no sense as to why they all wouldn't get along in the first place.
