Watch Thread - Steinhart

I'm just starting to get into watches - previously felt like it was unnecessary, always carrying a phone, and sort of in my way.
Anyway - I'm in the intermediate range and not ready to go Omega, Rolex, Blancpain or other high end watch - yet. I am mostly into dive watches at the moment and the Steinhart brand has caught my eye. They are attractive, have the look I like, seem to be good quality, and are a good intermediate price point.
Does anyone have experience with them? Feedback.
I like the Ocean 1 series
Steinhart Ocean 1
But there are several really nice models to choose from
Triton 30
Titanium 500
You can take your pick - I really like almost all of them. Just looking for some feedback. Thoughts? Alternatives in a similar price range with similar advertised quality/features?

Great looking Rolex knock off. How are the reviews?

Reviews on watch fan sites are solid. I just always look for a first hand opinion closer to home.
It's harder for me to make the leap to the Rolex look alikes - have never liked the feel of the metal clasp on my hairy arms.
They do have more than just the Rolex style.

Just as an FYI Rolex and Omega are mid-range watches, Blancpain straddles min-range and high end depending on the model.
Steinhart will get mixed reviews by watch nuts but I suggest not getting a Submariner look alike like the Ocean 1 and to a degree the Titanium 500. Bronze watches are a niche watch and although I have one (Tudor Black Bay) they tend to be fit better in a larger collection of watches that get rotated.
While there are a TON of micro-brands today and most of the do dive watches I tend to recommend Christopher Ward for people getting into mechanical watches while keeping a toe in the water budget.

Tag Heuer is the only acceptable watch for a gentleman of the OT.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. I've always considered them high end, but the more I learn about watches .....
Had never heard of Blancpain until a few months ago and they are in the same price range.

This is actually the one I'm leaning towards - not sure how I left it off the OP.
Triton 1000
With a nato strap or rubber strap.

Blancpain ain't even in the same stratosphere of price range

can you get a steinhart at steinmart?

Big range of prices. Blancpain from what I've seen will go 8K-45K. Rolex will go 2K-30K.

Call me a prick or a snob if you want, but if I saw a guy wearing that I would instantly judge him for wearing a “fake Submariner.”
A Seiko SKX007 or 009 - at under $200 - sends a totally different message. With those it looks like you know what you’re doing. Those are just the basic Seiko dive watches, they make plenty more for under $500 that will last a lifetime.

Lange and Sohne, Audemars Piguet, Patek Phillipe and Vacheron Constantin are the sort of brands watch nuts or Watch Idiot Savants (WIS) would consider high end. Rolex is primarily a sport watch brand with VERY good movements but rather simply finished, some might call it industrial finishing.

I tend to agree with you on this. Leaning towards the Triton 1000.
But the fake submariners are very nice looking.

the only one of these I'm familiar with is Patek Phillipe. Like I said, the more I learn about watches...

The cheapest new Rolex is going to be the Oyster Perpetual at a touch over $5k.
The most popular Blancpain is the Fifty Fathoms and shares a dive watch history as long as the Submariner. My 5015 is one of my favorite dive watches though a little large for some at 45mm.

Had never heard of this brand - thanks for the tip. Will look into it.

It is always smarter to buy a watch with a metal bracelet as opposed to a strap for resale value, however a NATO strap saved my watch recently after a spring-bar failure. On a regular bracelet/strap, the watch will fall off with one failure, but with a Nato strap both springbars will have to fail. Plus, Nato straps are extremely easy to change out and are super cheap and comfortable.
