Teleprompter or not, the guy could give a speech.
Name one. Name one speech that did anything other than draw some sort of attention to himself or divide this nation. You can't.
If I had a son, crocodile tears talking about guns, beer summit, blm. Great oratory skills.

And you think they don''t? Maybe you should put your effort into raising entrance scores, instead of being a troll on a message board?

My issue with it is it’s the specific phrase you hear from from far left idiots (who I can’t stand) to diminish police and members of the military killed in the line of duty.
That's a good point.

I agree. Trump cares.

It’s the exact phrase you don’t use, because everyone knows it means you don’t give a shite, and it’s used almost exclusively to let someone know you don’t give a shite.
So it's the phrasing not the actual sentiment you have issue with because the phrasing gives you something to attack Trump with. Because I know 100% beyond any shadow of a doubt that "He knew what he signed up for" means "he knew it was a dangerous job but he did it anyway because he wanted to serve his country." You know that's what he meant too but you still need a reason to attack Trump so reach for something like this and become intellectually dishonest to score points on the internet.

You won't find me defending much of anything Obama did. But, when you say his speeches "draw.. attention to himself" that's generally what a political speech is supposed to do.

Possibly you are misunderstanding me.
Even If Trump said it, which I highly doubt...it was quoted out of context here and at DU.
quote:The widow is a family member. Her politics may have her tainted. This seems like a cheap political gotcha and FT 's feigned outrage of grabbing his pearls is feigned outrage; disguised as a cheap political gotcha. FT probably found this on Democrat Underground. LINK where they are feigning outrage as well.
U.S. President Donald Trump told U.S. Army Sgt. La David Johnson's widow Tuesday that "he knew what he signed up for ...but when it happens it hurts anyway," when he died serving in northwestern Africa, according to Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Miami Gardens.

If she loved him for what he really was.

In combination with all of his other behavior, yeah, I really don’t think he cares.
Jason Kander just had a good point as I was typing this. “When people say that phrase, they want to distance themselves from the emotion and reality of ordering troops into battle, or protect themselves from feeling.”
Which reminded me of this:
Jason Kander just had a good point as I was typing this. “When people say that phrase, they want to distance themselves from the emotion and reality of ordering troops into battle, or protect themselves from feeling.”
Which reminded me of this:
quote:
There is a young man, probably a Navy officer, who accompanies the President. This young man has a black attaché case which contains the codes that are needed to fire nuclear weapons. I could see the President at a staff meeting considering nuclear war as an abstract question. He might conclude: “On SIOP Plan One, the decision is affirmative, Communicate the Alpha line XYZ.” Such jargon holds what is involved at a distance.
My suggestion was quite simple: Put that needed code number in a little capsule, and then implant that capsule right next to the heart of a volunteer. The volunteer would carry with him a big, heavy butcher knife as he accompanied the President. If ever the President wanted to fire nuclear weapons, the only way he could do so would be for him first, with his own hands, to kill one human being. The President says, “George, I’m sorry but tens of millions must die.” He has to look at someone and realize what death is—what an innocent death is. Blood on the White House carpet. It’s reality brought home.
When I suggested this to friends in the Pentagon they said, “My God, that’s terrible. Having to kill someone would distort the President’s judgment. He might never push the button.“

Why don't you or FT go post the Obama/HRC colluding with Russia story from Newsweek; over where you would feel right at home posting? LINK They don't have the story up.

I guess the truth of her spouse and the father of their three children, one unborn, all below the age of 7 being killed in an ambush wasn't enough truth. Trump needed to twist that dagger a little more.

So, you're saying that people that sign up for a voluntary military duty don't understand that there is the possibility they may be placed in harm's way?
you know damn well how you would react if Obama made this comment. And your outrage would be justified. I support Trump's presidency, but he can be a jackass.
ETA: those saying Trump doesn't care are jackasses too. I am sure he does, he just has zero tact.

"he knew what he signed up for, but it still hurts"
It's equivalent to saying "death is a part of war, but it is still a tragedy".
Do you honestly think trump was trying to be a dick to his wife? Really? It's an out of context quote.

Do you think there is no realization?
She sees the patches and insignia, she sees that very few have that.
Oh, he had a big pitchfork patch, I thought it was because he was great on the BBq grill.
Oh,and his military life is just like any other, except he travels all the time, never wears a uniform,etc..
