Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., slammed his colleagues in the Senate, Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., for "parading" as conservatives while opposing legislation that is not "conservative." "People like McCain and Graham, who parade as conservatives but are not really conservative, they need to be called out because they are bankrupting our country," Paul said Tuesday. Paul added that Graham was part of the "problem" in Washington, D.C., and has contributed to the national debt because of his willingness to increase military spending. "Lindsey Graham wouldn't know a conservative if he met one," Paul, who is libertarian, said before wading into the debate on the rising national debt. "He's never been a conservative. He's probably a big part of why we have such a massive debt in this country."
quote:
Paul said he would back a large tax cut, but he would not do so if that meant budget caps were not in place. Although Paul previously was planning on opposing it, he said Trump convinced him to change his mind and he voted to start debate on the fiscal 2018 budget resolution Tuesday. Paul played golf with the president over the weekend. "The motion to proceed was not as big a deal, but I think you can say the president was influential in getting me to vote for the motion to proceed," Paul said.

Actually Lindsey has fully acknowledged and said that if the GOP doesn't honor their promises of tax reform and repealing ObamaCare, the midterms will be a bloodbath for the GOP. He even tried to help out with Graham-Cassidy which actually was a pretty good bill.
John McCain doesn't give a frick and only cares about avenging petty scores agains the President.

I've asked this question before on this board and I still haven't gotten a straight answer yet.
Rand voted for the skinny repeal which had far less teeth than this bill as it only repealed a couple mandates/penalties.
What happened after that? He railed against a pragmatic solution in Graham/Cassidy that promoted federalism and actually cut medicaid and it's something the Governor of his own state openly supported. If the 17th amendment didn't exist, Rand's arse would've been recalled for that.
Rand was for repeal and replace at one point this year, then complete repeal only and adding this or that provision in the bill. He's been all over the place.
Why is Rand doing what appears to be a shite ton of grandstanding on ObamaCare?

Everyone worshiping Rand when he's just a Libertarian cuck. Kentucky deserves better. He ran for president and senate at the same time. Just a grandstander.

I have no idea, but I'll give you that.
He in no way has been consistent on his approach to the ACA.

He did and Graham-Cassidy was actually a pretty decent bill that promoted federalism with block grants for states even if it's just letting states decide how they want to manage ObamaCare.
I'm a lindsey hater as much as y'all are but I'm not going to ignore Rand's missteps on ObamaCare this year.

True conservative grandstanding is almost as bad as the GOPe backstabbing.
Even Mike Lee and Ted Cruz had no problem with Graham-Cassidy and they're just as conservative as he is. Ted Cruz only unendorsed because the bill was fading away.
That bill would've gotten us off the path to single payer and Rand should be ashamed looking himself in the eye if he's just as obstructionist as his enemies in letting good be the enemy of perfect.

Rand wants a common sense, fiscally responsible healthcare bill that also actually IMPROVES patient outcomes like the rest of the country does.
None of us are going to get one.

incorrect. he should be voting for policy that's best for his country, state and the people he represents. it's fine to be conservative or liberal, republican or democrat, but no politician should put an ideology - their own or that of the voters that put them on office - over the obligation to those they serve. imo

So do I.
That's not going to stop me from shitting on Rand for letting good be the enemy of perfect.

But, that's just it Sent. They haven't even presented anything close to "good" yet.
They had 8 fricking years and have zero legislation ready to go.

Graham-cassidy was pretty good. It actually cut medicaid by a lot and let states choose how they want to shape how healthcare is run in their states with ObamaCare with block grants which has had success with other things.
It's not perfect but pass the bill and keep perfecting it down the road to something that will be even better.
Demcorats have made an art form of chipping away and now they're closer than ever to single payer and we have to do everything we can to get away from that.
