Maybe if we stop talking about the Troy loss it will go away.

Was the future bright in 86?

86, 87, 88 were some pretty damn good years.
Your daddy was probably only 5 or 6 back then though

We should lose to an I ranked non conference team every year then! Yea!

Get over it...it happens in the best of families...

I was a Freshman for the Miami (Oh) game. It was the end of the world until LSU started crushing opponents for the next few years.
The OP makes a good point.

Q: What do Troy in 2017, Miami (Ohio) in 1986, and UAB in 2000 have in common?
A: Purple jersey games vs. mid-major opponents who were good within their own realm, but shouldn't have been able to come into Tiger Stadium and win.
LSU record after the embarrassing loss:
1986: 8-2 (including 30-15 Sugar Bowl loss to Nebraska)
2000: 6-2 (including 28-14 Peach Bowl win vs Georgia Tech)
2017: 2-0 so far
So these WTF?! losses aren't necessarily catastrophic.

Let's not bring up that Miami (Ohio) game from 86. I was a freshman in Tigerband that year. We were coming off a great win over Texas A&M and that 21-12 loss made me ill. The rest of the season was pretty good, but losing to Nebraska in the 4th qtr of the Sugar Bowl gave me the worst headache of my life.
BTW, "Lacour" was the name of a guy that was the RA for 2nd floor of South Stadium Dorm in 86. Any relation?
