Might as well kick the tires to see what he had left.

Truth. The 49's front office must have a great relationship with him to do him the favor of releasing him instead of getting some late round pick for him.

I think it was more he thinks he can get a better paycheck from another team.

If it’s a trade he keeps his current contract which is probably better than what he will get as a FA, correct?

Im thinking the samething. He would of wanted to be traded instead of getting released

Frick him then. Hope he lands in Cleveland

They probably couldn't have got a 7th round pick for him at this point.
He was having massive issues covering TEs and RBs before the Achilles injury, and still had a decent amount on that deal.

I read somewhere that he gets the guarantees from his current contract in addition to w/e the new one pays.

Sorry I thought he had more guaranteed money

So I guess you didn’t actually read the article. They told him they were trading him to N.O., he said no thanks just release me and let me try free agency...

lol at 49ers not trading him because he asked nicely...idiots

True story....the niners paid him millions to be injured for the last few years, and then they just give in. Anyhow, he doesn't want to be here. He wants to be with a sure contender. I can't say I blame him. Personally, I don't think he's that much of an upgrade and will probably get hurt again.

I wish him the least of luck.

so nice of the 49ers
instead of freeing his contract off their books and getting another draft pick... they get to continue paying for someone who is no longer helping them be successful and don't have another draft pick.
such good business sense by SF
