What is Louisiana offering me, a single young professional, to stay?
The infastructure blows, the taxes are going insane and will only go higher, race relations have created a powder keg in NOLA and BR, and there is no clear way how they are going to get out of the financial hole.

Louisiana taxes now rival California's and New York's. If you make $50,000/yr the state of Louisiana taxes you 6% of your income. In California someone making $50K is taxes at 8% while in New York the rate is 6.45%. Sales tax in Louisiana is at ~9% and it is at 8.4% in CA and NY.
So you have an extremely high tax burden in a state that ranks dead last in just about every quality of life category possible.

You have a point
Why should they also offer you a tuition free education then?
