Let's see what happens in the NBA this season. They already have this rule. It will be interesting what the NBA's response will be if a bunch of high profile players refus to stand. I think that would be a good barometer for the NFL to use.

Popovich will have the players sit for anthem when he wants to give them an off night to get around not sitting healthy players.

In the NBA, I think it would actually be even easier for the players. If Lebron and maybe a handful of other high profile guys decided they didn’t want to stand, I suspect that the league would figure out a compromise really quick.

Players in the NBA are treated incredibly generously concerning max contracts and guaranteed money compared to the NFL and there's fewer NBA players than NFL players so easier to gain more endorsements and generate a larger platform. The NBA players will submit to the league's rules and regulations without much or any objection plus the NBA portrays itself as progressive concerning social issues.
