Well I will say this about Matthews...His father was a Master Sergeant in the Marines. His brother was also a marine and was killed working as a private defense contractor in Afghanistan after serving for 10 years.

He also donated $75k this year to charitable organizations related to this "movement."

However, if the NFL institutes a rule like the NBA has, he will get fined and will get suspended. If he chooses to retire if the rule is put in place, then he's welcome to it. I'd honestly probably have respect for him if he did. I wouldn't agree with his choice, but I would at least respect his right to express his views and willing to take whatever consequences come from him doing that.

Plenty of decent people have stupid relatives. Their actions have no bearing on him.

ETA: He's the stupid relative if that isn't clear.

It would surprise me if the NFL did this. Lots of players can’t stand Goodell and I could see lots of guys refusing to stand just to spite him. You can only suspend so many guys.

Please remember who started this movement and the fact he wore a Fidel Castro shirt to his press conference to discuss oppression in the United States. How can anyone take CK serious when he pulls a stunt like that.

Ask all those Cubans who have risked their lives to escape Castro about oppression.
