As I stated before, many of the things that weren't understood at the time and were dismissed as "crazy" or "impossible" have turned out to be completely true. It just took the rest of us a while to figure it out as well. A lot of his research was empirical. So, he may not have been able to fully understand and explain it, but he knew it was there.
And that is why he gets so much hype.
What if some of the other things that he claimed (and we believe are not possible) just haven't been discovered/proven by others yet?

People are quick to assume that their understanding of the world has to be correct. But even Aristotle understood that — 'The more you know, the more you know you don't know.'
quote:

Like cosmic rays moving faster than the speed of light?

Just like when people believed the earth was flat, we may discover in the future that our current understanding is flawed.

We blindly accept that this the speed of light is a limit, but do YOU honestly understand why? I don't. I simply accept it as I have no real reason or desire to question it.
It is completely possible (and somewhat likely) that he is wrong about this one... or it may be a case that we just do not have the technology to prove or disprove these theories. Let's assume that he is wrong about this one thing, that shouldn't discredit all of the other stuff he did.

How about wireless power transmission?
Super inefficient, but you can do this in your own garage.

How about that death ray?
Reading more about what he was saying, it seems to be more of a particle accelerator that produced alpha particles.
It also resembles the charged-particle beam weapons developed by the US and USSR. It's not hard to do a little research.
I know "Death Ray" isn't the most sophisticated verbiage, but you'll have to excuse the guy for not using the proper 2017 terms.

Honestly, he dealt with mostly electrostatic energy and high frequency, high voltage electricity.
We mainly use electromagnetic energy in both science and every day life. I wouldn't be surprised if there were alot of things in this field of research that we don't know.

This website has tons of interesting information. https://teslaresearch.jimdo.com/

So he patented someone else's invention like Edison did with the lightbulb.

He blatantly lied. Why doesn't he get criticized for making up a lie to disparage Einstein?

Improved on an idea of others and being a showman patented and slapped his name on it.

I've stated over and over, he is very accomplished. Up there with the brightest in the field. Just think he is overrated when you apply the same rules.

Especially if, for some reason, everyone wants to hold him to the same moral level as Edison

Maybe he is right and Einstein is wrong. Do you not read? Or are you just trying to push your agenda?

LOLOLOL. Are you actually being serious?
Here's an example of MIT guys talking about wireless power transmission like they just invented something terrific. Just 100 years later I might add.

Ok. clown. I'm sorry I spent any time trying to help answer your questions.

So, your contention is that Tesla really did see cosmic rays going 50x faster than the speed of light. We just haven't seen any since.

Again, I'm not calling him a fraud.

A lot of the shite he claimed to have done (wireless power) was never proven and he had no actual evidence.

Sure there is. It’s called radio wave transmission and he abandoned it because it was pretty clear that it was inefficient for power transmission, he missed, or at least was not interested in, the fact that it could be used for sound transmittion. I’m sure Marconi was thankful.

quote:

He didn't get screwed by Edison either. He worked for Edison as an engineer then took his works to Westinghouse (some would argue illegally).

He didn’t get screwed by Edison, though Edison unsuccessfully attempted to torpedo AC as the primary form of power transmittion. Tesla left Edison because he Edison was not interested in AC power as much as DC power. It all boiled down to Tesla being more of a tech geek, in modern terms, and Edison (and Westinghouse, for that matter) being a highly technically skilled businessman. He did work for Edison, but whether his ideas while working for Edison were his property or Edison is debatable unless there was a contract for intellectual right regard work done while in Edison’s employ.

Tesla was an interesting man was a sort of electrical savant, or at least an AC savant, who probably sped up certain aspects of our electrical understanding by years, if not decade. You are correct, though, that their is an almost tin foil hat type of cult that has grown up around his supposed accomplishments.

Tesla was way ahead of his time. The materials to do what he needed to do weren’t even in existence yet. Consequently, he had to waste so much productive time creating materials to get the job done.

Who knows what else he would have done had the Russian’s not killed him.

He did have a problem with feeding the pigeons, however.

Op could watch netflix special on tesla.

Off rocker in interesting ways and dumb about money.
All time top 10 human for patience in addressing science and engineering.
Plowed into problems, working out solution in head.

tesla wanted to make energy free or cheap for all,Edison was backed by westinghouse and jpmorgan who already had plans to profit from electricity and gain a monopoly.his labs were burned down, his plans stolen.supposedly he had a wireless model t electical motor driven by a remote frequency.there are scholars now giving credit to Tesla for the invention of radio over Marconi.

He also gave live demonstrations of wireless control of toy boats at the 1910 Worlds Fair.
