Think he's just extremely out of shape. 8 months with no real football practice is a lot to overcome. He'll have bursts of production, but is physically unable to sustain max effort over the course of a game.

If Key is protecting his draft status, he would be well advised to return for his senior year. At this point in the season, I'm not sure he would place in the top 3 rounds. If his current play carries into pro camps, he may go the way of Dupree and Dural. I believe he needs his senior year to regain his confidence and fitness. I would like to see him back next year predicting 14 sacks.

Key just dosent act or play like he gives a shite. He needs to either start fricking playing or we need to start chaisson and get him more reps for the future. It's bullshite. Does he even have a single sack yet this year? It's like he thinks he's arrived or something bc of last season. He is losing more and more money every bad outing he has this year, and that is a fact. Nfl teams are going to question his drive and motivation if he doesn't start putting out every play. They will wonder if he will do the same at the next level. Why waste an early pick on someone who is inconsistent, when you have other players who give 100% effort every damn down? They wont. I would rather get a player that doesn't quite have the talent as key, but gives every ounce he has every play. A football player, that's what key needs to be.

I understand Arden got hurt. had surgery, and needed time to recover - but that doesn't explain his lackluster demeanor...or the fact that he's allowed himself to get so out of shape that he's a liability to his team.

For all the time he was recovering and missing practice, was any of O's staff assigned to keep in touch or keep at least one eye on Arden? Your 2017 marquee player on defense comes back, after missing all offseason, overweight and under motivated to ball out? How could such an extreme disconnect occur?

Just my opinion, and I haven't said anything up to now because I've been hoping I'm wrong, but I feel like certain players have a very long rope with O, and other players have a very short rope with O.

And if I can see it, I'm pretty damn sure the rest of the team can see it better than even I can.

Should Arden be benched? Yes.

But the long rope says he gets to participate, at his own pace, all season long.

That would be like throwing a rabbit into a briar patch. He doesn't want to play for the Tigers anyway. He's just waiting on the draft. Trying to stay injury free.

I honestly don't think the young man really wants to play football period anymore. I know its insane to just throw away millions but after the stories I read on why he took a leave over the summer just makes me think he is burnt out on football.

people like booger McFarland who are saying he's waiting for the NFL are full of shite, his draft stock is taking a huge hit.

Something is very wrong

I honestly think the guy is on some heavy antipsychotics. If he is this is over for him and we need to pull him. He's not going to improve.

All he needs to do is look at Sam Montgomery. He was great as a sophomore and was expected to be a high draft pick. He proceeded to basically take his junior year off. His draft status plunged and he never regained form and washed out of the NFL very quickly.

Todd Gurley said it best after he blew out his knee in his junior year. His comment was something to the effect that he only knew how to play all out and if he tried to not play that we, he might lose it forever.

I would say he shouldn't be starter but not benched. Maybe it will give him motivation to get in SEC football shape.
