I'll say this. I shot one in the neck on a miss a few years ago, (maybe It jumped the string at 30-something yards? :) and that thing dropped immediately like a sack of potatoes. Freakish. It sliced the wind pipe and glanced a vien. Not even a spine shot.
If I have a close shot and I'm in some thick stuff that would make it hard to find a deer, knowing that will be valuable. Another option other than a spine shot.

There are very few instances bow or gun, where a headshot is anything other than unethical.
It's a small target that moves more than anything else on the deer and is not miss or kill like everyone seems to think.

Woul d never attempt that shot with a bow, I will head shoot nannys with a rifle if given the chance though.

I saw this posted. The dude has been posting taking fawns since the season started, prior to the season he spammed the group with some of the most retarded questions I've seen posted. He's obviously a noob who's own father probably didn't love him and wouldn't take him.

Yea seen the post I believe his name was Joshua Hebert. Typical Douche Nozzle that posts on the Louisiana Deer Hunter FB page seeking attention. Good page but these type morons are hard to keep weeded out.

Yup, that was him. here is his apology after it was removed. He is still acting like that shot was something other than luck (if it really was at 38 yards)

He's trolling, I have to believe no one is actually that big of a douche for my own faith in humanity.

I see you've never been in a sportsman Facebook group...not a good look for us responsible, literate hunter and fisherman.

Man you need to take that pic down. Nothing cool about that. Have a little more respect

Agreed. Headshots are unethical because of the increased chance of wounding a deer. All we need is for some animal rights group to find a deer starving with it's jaw shot off. Talk about a PR nightmare.

I wouldn't put it past him but there wouldn't be that much blood on the ground unless the deer's heart was still beating when it was done.
