Because if you can take away our arms, then it will be easier to take away other rights in the future.
That is one of the reasons the 2nd Amendment was created. It is one of many checks by the citizenry against a possible hostile and unlawful government.
Hell, it is why the WHOLE Constitution was created, to keep the government in check.

You are assuming this could be a guerrilla war. What if several states band together and fight each other? Plenty of federal weapons to confiscate in Texas (oh shite, I just got put on "the list").
I know I am describing Civil War II, but...
