it was powerful stuff. especially when he said the first thought that went through his head was asking God not to let his daughter walk down the aisle alone

Yeah that got me too. It was almost like his wife wanted to say "You didn't think about me first??" then realized "ah, that's cool too"

I'll be honest, I'm one of the most politically ignorant people you will meet. I give zero fricks about the president, Congress, etc. If that makes me a bad American, then so be it. I had honestly never heard of Steve Scalise, let alone know that he is the 3rd most powerful Republican. I'll be paying attention to Scalise now. He seems like an incredible, heroic, and down to earth guy.

The last thing I remember my mother saying in front of her three sons before her death was "I'm sorry I will not get to see my sons marry". That has stuck with me for 47 years.
