A more crazy conspiracy is everyone elected every 2 decades died in office. Some attribute it to some tribal chief putting a curse on the Presidency due to Andrew Jackson and the Trail of Tears:

William Henry Harrison elected in 1840 died one month into office from pneumonia.
Abraham Lincoln elected in 1860 was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth.
James A Garfield elected in 1880 was assassinated by Charles J. Guiteau 4 months into office.
William McKinley elected in 1900 was assassinated by Leon Czolgosz 5 months into office.
Warren G. Harding elected in 1920 died in office from pneumonia.
Franklin D. Roosevelt initially elected in 1932 but reelected in 1940 died in office from a cerebral hemorrhage.
John F. Kennedy elected in 1960 was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald.
Ronald Reagan elected in 1980 was shot by John Hinckley Jr. 69 days into office, but miraculously survived.

Reagan seemingly broke the curse.
