I grew up in park forest off of north Sherwood Forest. Since I lived there from 1994-2006 it has always been a black neighborhood. I always loved living there and everybody there were hard working people who kept their houses nice. Matter of fact Jim Hawthorne had his house flooded in park forest and he rebuilt his home there. It was always run down looking but even more now in the area.

The street Sherwood Forest itself through that neighborhood is pretty ghetto because no one decent wants to live right on the major through way. When you get into Goodwood and Sherwood Forest it's pretty decent. There's a lot of Vietnamese and other Asians who live in that area who keep their property nice. Also a lot of old white folks still hanging on.

It is a crime prevention district. Maybe that will help.

Reality is the gehtto spread into this area after Hurricane Katrina.

Little Jamaica destroyed it on the Flanery Road or East side cultcha, Belaire (jailaire) from the North side gave it its thuggish new looks, and on the Southside Blvd de Providence gave it its bling!

Even if it had decent areas left who wants to live in an area surrounded by ghettos?
