Inferior teams run 4+ wide sets against LSU defense.

Why did that preclude the LSU offense from running spread formations against BYU, Chat. and MSU?
Is CEO limiting Canada's offense?

So now we're back to the head coach limiting the offense? Orgeron may not be a good head coach but I think we can say with absolute certainty that he isn't limiting what Matt Canada can do with the offense. The offense is all on Canada and everyone knows it. They made it pretty clear that he has complete control of what happens on that side of the ball. That seems to not be such a good idea in hind sight and this offense makes my balls ache. I liked the Canada hire initially but the shifts are already getting on my nerves. Just run the fricking plays, because you're not confusing anyone by switching the tackle and the tight end or putting a receiver in motion only to go back where he started before every play.

Didn't Orgeron say they do not have the WR talent to run 4 wide?

i won't argue your point on the shifts but motion is very valuable and always has been. it can determine pre-snap if they are in man or zone. it also makes someone account for that man when you use him in end arounds/jet sweeps, quick screens/passes to him as he finishes his motion outside, etc. decoys aka ghost motion is used by NFL teams also. If you think motion is useless you have just shown TD your football ignorance. congrats.

This is code for "the guy I hired doesn't know how to develop a passing game and I'm trying to cover his arse"

^ This guy gets it. Motioning a player is very valuable especially at certain times/downs and keeps the defense honest. As far as switching tackles/tight ends only to have them mirror the original set, that has me scratching my head.

It's a test. By watching how the linebackers, corners, and safety personel react to the players in motion, the qb can get a very good read on whether the defense will be playing a man or a zone after he snaps the ball. This gives him a preview of where the defense will be, helping with timing routes, and whether he should audible to give the ball to someone else since most of those motion plays are options. If the defense is playing man, maybe he habds it off on the jet sweep, but if they're still n sone, he hands it off up the middle or keeps it and throws.

I never said motions were useless. He uses the same shifts and motions over and over and defenses see that. I just don't think he's using motions in the right way and it's actually keying the defense as to what we're about to do. They've been running the same plays out of those sets for three games. If I can sit there and figure out what they're doing then I'm pretty sure defensive coordinators are having a field day with it.

Or it could be code for—our recruits just don't grasp it yet.....
Both Canada and Aranda have track records that prove they can teach players their schemes...
So....what is the only thing left that really explains what's going on at LSU...it's either that they haven't grasped it yet due to being young or they will never be able to grasp it....

Another question I have is the lack of completions over the middle. Is Etling too scared to throw over the middle or are our WR covered on over the middle routes?
Also, where are Guice and our TE's in this passing game?

If you recall in the Miss St game, Etling did throw it down the middle to Chark....and the ball hit him in the face mask.....
