As I said on page one. I'd bet this is the family sitter that's been watching this kid for a few years. All summer they've taken the canoe out with permission from the parents...it's a pond...not Lake Pontchartrain. Parents forget to tell the babysitter the lake is too high to canoe...and they just ride the current out into the swamp.

She probably wasn't aware of the water being too high. It's not like Lafayette got flooded by Harvey
