If miles would have done the same thing everyone would be bitching about same old les offense.

Anyone who would say that this is "the same old Les offense" is not paying attention. Yeah, if you just look at the run/pass ratio, you might say it was the same. (The coaches and Etling all emphasized that there was no reason to get exotic when we were having success on the ground.) But look more closely at the stats: 8 different players ran the ball; 8 different receivers caught passes. Two QBs were 15 for 18. Doesn't look like "the same old Les offense" to me.

I kept waiting for first the LBs to start shooting gaps to try and be disruptive (a la Bama), and then see if Canada adjusted by using the middle of the field in the air. BYU never did.

Then I anticipated the safeties coming down to see if Canada would change up based on that. BYU never did.

Moral of the story, if Canada was only attacking weaknesses, then there was no reason to change, just keep them honest. BYU dictated the "philosophy", not some playbook (secret or not) or some reputation to uphold (spread or die!!). I'm happy with that.

7 weeks from now I want to hear some talking head on ESPN downgrading us because "we don't have an identity on offense" while the offense keeps producing. I will call that a success.

When the sound-bite media start accusing Canada of channeling coaches, from Les Miles to Chip Kelly, I'm going to laugh my arse off. And the melt will be wonderful here. Always something to bitch about, but never something to always bitch about. People will be grasping at phantoms on here... like run/pass ratio against UN-STACKED boxes.
