My car now smells like old musty gym socks.

And my floor mats were a little damp.
I did start to drive through some flood water a few days ago, but quickly realized it was too deep and backed up.
Wasn't high enough for the water to get in through the doors. Could it have gotten in some other way by driving through some water for a couple seconds?
Other than that, it got pounded by rain 24/7 for 4 straight days.
Anybody got any idea why my floor mats are slightly damp and if that's the source of the smell?

Probably A/C drain. Year make and model of the car would help.

Sometimes the ac drain gets clogged with debris

Did you leave a window cracked?
Also, could be the stripper you left in the trunk.

You probably created a micro-climate and it rained in your car.

Does it have a sunroof?
If so, possible clogged or cracked sunroof drains.

Yes but I don't think water got in from there.

Sounds like rescue victims slept in there. Don't be so whiny.
Lol at civic. Thought only daughters drove those.

yep, pull everything out that you can and leave your car in a garage or somewhere you can leave the windows open in it will smell fine in a few days.

quote:Sunroof usually has drains that can become clogged or cracked allowing water in along the drain line and not at the area of the sunroof. Just a possibility. Had a similar issue with a jeep grand Cherokee one time.

Probably got some water stuck in your exhaust for a few days and its trapped. Need to switch your muffler out to get better exhaust flow.

Just use all those pink slips you've collected over the years of living a quarter mile at a time to dry everything.

Check for a crack in the rear windshield under the giant Kicker Audio sticker

F250's don't have that problem.
