Since you still sound like you might not get it, instead of all of that video traffic going over your own internal wifi network, it is going out your friend's paid internet connection and in your own paid internet connection. If you had the Plex server in your own house you would use zero paid bandwidth to access it. Since it's at you're friends house you both are using paid bandwidth for you to access it.

But we also have constant downloads of movies and shows moving through that server since it only takes a few taps from a phone to put in a download. We have anywhere from 1-10 remote users using the server at once
but what do I know
