Uhhhh they just did that a little over a year ago and the results were making the playoffs in year 1.

I have no time for facts up in here!!!!

Like I said, if the Lions weren't going to pay him, another team was. Your strategy would be to let him walk then try to find a competent QB in the draft or free agency.
Good luck with that strategy.
Good luck with that strategy.

Why would you franchise him and then let him walk?

No, the strategy is to spend money elsewhere and upgrade your team.
Its obvious the formula of paying Stafford is not working....

No

People are touuting its the Lions organization that they haven't won anything.
Well paying Stafford puts you in the exact same boat you have always been in.
How is your team any better?

of course I try to resign him, but not at that number
He's got $92m guaranteed over 5 years. That's not some crazy number for top QBs these days.
And the franchise tag applied to him every year would add up to more than that when you consider it increases annually. So you either sign him or let him walk. There's really no other options.

Give me a break.
Right now, with Stafford, they are a team competing for the Wild Card. Lose Stafford, and they won't be sniffing a playoff berth for a long time.

He walks and spend money elsewhere and upgrade your team through free agency and the draft.
So all they have now is an overpaid QB and a shite roster

Good strategy.

Look at the Redskins, they are letting Cousins walk because they see its ridiculous to overpay him.
I share the same philosophy as them regarding this topic.

Yeah, let's see how that plays out.

,
Lets overpay Stafford and hamstring our roster for the next 10 years and lay down at the bottom of the division.

As opposed to starting Jake Ruddock and flirting with 0-16 again

Lions vs Seahawks 2016
Stafford- 18/32 205 yards 0 touchdowns.........commands highest paid contract in the league....

Except in 2 years he won't be the top paid.

Made the playoffs.
What were you saying about laying down at the bottom of the division? And something about how you would run your team like the Redskins?
