What is the song they play that is very slow and low and has like a single clap that everyone does?
Asking for my daughter who is in her HS band.

could you be referring to the base drum taps that we march out to at the beginning of pregame?

Is it played on big defensive plays or 4th down stops? Band guy I knew several years ago called this one song something like "dune de ki.". I'm sure that's not the right spelling.

Its defiantly not Pregame. When I say slow, its really, really slow. Like its not even a song. I wish I could remember if it is played at a certain time.

This has to be it

It was played on 3rd downs up until 2013 I think. The band rarely plays it any more. Unless you're sitting in the student section it's hard to clap to.

Now that you said that, I think it WAS something the student section got in on.
It was like "Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh,,,,(clap),,,,,,then something else.
Or maybe Im crazy.

The student section has never had any type of band interaction that includes a single clap in my 40+ years. It has to be "LSU Groove" they play on defensive 3rd downs but that's just a drumline thing.

I've always heard people clapping to it around me and I did it myself. People definitely clapped in synch to that drum cadence.

This is definitely what you are thinking of. I just spent 20 mins scouring through YouTube and LSU band videos and I cannot find it. I can hear it in my head perfectly though. The student section does the same arm motion as they do for neck when the drumline plays this. I'm pretty sure they play it on defense.
