I'm not a pure free market capitalist. If I was I wouldn't have supported Trump so enthusiastically.

Capitalism over 100 years is similar to a game of "Monopoly". Once the eventual "winners" cross the rubicon, the game is unlosable and the gap between them and the "losers" will exponentially widen.

There have to be rules and regulations; checks and balances to keep the game "playable" longer term for more people.

This is true. I realized this watching "the cars that built America" going through the history of the auto industry.

Seems every industry goes through stages. The pioneer stage where something new is invented and changes the world. Then the growth stage where everyone seeks to get into this new industry and money pours in and there's healthy competition and massive growth. Then a recession stage where the heated competition leads to greed and unethical business practices causing many to go out of business trying to get an edge over competitors. Then a consolidation stage where the few big dogs who emerge from the recession stage consolidate or buy out the competition and take the entire market. Then the industry coasts being led by a few big players with little competition other than niche markets.
