LSU coach Ed Orgeron said on his weekly radio that cornerback Donte Jackson would take punt return duties this year.

quote:

Jackson has seen spot duty as LSU's kick returner the last two seasons but hasn't a fielded a punt since his freshman season

quote:

As a freshman, Jackson returned eight kicks for a 20.5 average and four punts for a total of six yards. Last season, he returned seven kicks for a 23.4 average.

Ross Dellenger:

Orgeron says the FG kicking battling is on-going, between Gonsoulin and Culp. KO job also between Culp and Gonsoulin. #LSU

Andrew Lopez:
quote:

Coach O says Clyde Edwards-Helaire will handle some of the kickoff return duties and Donte Jackson will be used as #LSU's punt returner.

Christopher Dabe:
quote:

O says #LSU is better in special teams with Greg McMahon as a consultant for the on-field coaches.

Greg McMahon comes to the office at 4 a.m. and leaves at 10 p.m., O says. #LSU

praise dear baby jesus. tired of seeing gamble on fricking scholarship when he can only kick the ball in fair play 50% of the time.

edit; 22.22% of his kickoffs were for touchbacks with 3 out of bounds. horrible. CFB Stats

Donte better learn to hang on to the damn football. I'd much rather have Chark back there with his sticky hands. Donte has the ability to burn anybody on the field though. Should be exciting.

Gonsoulin has it IMO

I'm glad both of these guys will get the ball in their hands on special teams. I personally think Clyde is better suited for punts than kick offs but they have obviously seen more and like what they've seen.

It is somewhat concerning that Drake Davis could not even manage to win the kick returning job. He's bigger and straight-line faster than CEH, and apparently was given every opportunity. I'm afraid he is not going to be as good as we'd hoped this year.

The defense will be good so that means a lot of punt returns for Donte and opportunities for him to take it to the house

was kinda hoping for one of those 6'5 WR's to be fielding punts. Sullivan or Davis.. we dont have anymore trindon hollidays running around..

maybe could have looked at Gage back there too.. if you dont have a fast shifty guy, then id go with a big physical guy..
