I'm going to Chicago for a conference for work. I'm going to stay a few extra days and fly the girlfriend up. We will have 2 whole days and 3 nights. Since we don't have long, what kind of things should we do?

Cubs if they are in town. The Art History Museum is a must. Take one of the river cruises. Chicago 360 for the view. Miracle Mile for the old lady if she wants to shop. Pick a pizza place, a hot dog place, and a steak place. Public transit there is great and we never drove or took an Uber anywhere.

architectural river tour -- well worth it. It was really neat.

Thanks everyone. This has been the first time I have been on this board. How pricy is Girl and the goat?
Was maybe going to check reservations or do a dinner boat cruise.

Price isn't as bad as you would think. I will budget $150, but it always comes out less for me and my girlfriend.
Went this past Sunday with another couple and splitting the bill was about $105 per couple. Of course, everyone was battling a hangover, so that only included two drinks.

If your trip is upcoming, some will tell you "no chance" with reservations, and I've said it multiple times, but this is not necessarily true. I've never booked more than a week in advance and my reservations at 6:00pm on Sunday were made about six hours earlier.
People will book Girl and the Goat so far in advance that some couples/groups will, inevitably, cancel due to unforeseen plans, etc.
I won't go so far to guarantee the above, but just keep checking if they aren't there the first time.

Yeah I had a Saturday night reservation open up last week on Friday. My bill was $180 per couple but we also were drinking heavily.

It has! Opened in Emporium's pop-up location on Milwaukee in Bucktown. Was planning to check it out tonight, but might end up waiting until next week.
ETA: Actually, going tonight. I'll report back.

Isn't the Museum of Science and Industry on the south side? Would that be ok?
I'm going the last week of September. I currently have a reservation at 10:45 on September 30th for Girl and the Goat. Only time I could get it.

It is, but Hyde Park is pretty insulated from gang activity. Just don't go south into Woodlawn or west into Washington Park and Englewood.

This is fine. As I mentioned in my post, though, this is a pretty far out reservation. Keep checking for spots that open up.
If you do stick with the 10:45pm reservation, grab a drink at Booze Box and The Izakaya, both subterranean cocktail bars, underneath Sushi Dokku and Momotaro. Another nice spot for a drink is Fox Bar inside Soho House. Soho House is members only, but Fox Bar is open to the public.

After or before? How late does everything stay open?

If you stick with the 10:45pm reservation, I was thinking before, but you can definitely go after, too. Izakaya and Booze Box are open until 2:00am and Fox bar is open until 3:00am.
