Homogenous ethnic states tend to do better. Israel's problem is being surrounded by the folks whose land they were given. Were they more isolated (ie the Madagascar solution), there'd be much less strife.

The problem with current African states is that they aren't really homogenous - I think Kenya itself has well over a hundred spoken languages within its borders. Ain't all that similar, despite the fact that they look the same to us.
