Thanks for sharing. I think I'll try this. What kind of variety have you tried with your bacon? Also, your last bit says served with stewed okra - does that mean you added additional okra at the end?

Purple hull peas had okra in them.

I am a non-discriminatory bacon lover and use whatever we have. Either thick cut or thin is ok but thick cut has a nice chew in this dish.
Regarding the stewed okra, if you look at the final picture, you will see a helping of purplehull peas with some okra stewed in them as they cook hiding on the plate behind the Okra and Bacon dish.
I am old school country when it comes to purplehull peas with okra stewed in the peas as they cook and served together.
I understand there are a number of people who do not like okra and probably even more who do not like it stewed, as it can be slimy. Makes no difference at all to me because I love okra any way you might choose to cook it.
