The 382 day fast study

60 hrs is really nothing. I've done 72hr before and it is astounding what you can get accomplished not cooking or eating. I've heard of people only eating on the weekends, or fasting for two weeks every quarter, or alternate day eating.

People lead amazing and interesting lives.

yea I don't understand why people are saying that 60+ hours is extreme. Now if you are trying to lift on it, sure but in the grand scheme its not even close and is very very good for you health wise.

Now for vanity reasons, two 36 hour fast is better than a 72 hour fast as around the 36-40 hour mark your body switches to burning muscle and continues to ramp this process up.

But as far as the OP goes, its not extreme if you dont do it all the time. As a mental fortitude thing, or health decision its a very good thing.
