It should also be realized that the KKK initially was the indigenous response to military, economic, and political occupation of the South during Reconstruction. The original KKK started in the late 1860s and ended in the 1870s.

The modern KKK was started in the fricken MIDWEST in the early 1910s as an anti Catholic and Jewish organization. Marse Robert had been killing these arseholes ancestors 50 years before this! They sure don't deserve the honor of draping the Southern Battle flag around their sorry carcasses!

The modern KKK grew westward and eventually south. In the South there as a paucity of both Jews and Catholics, so the morons centered upon blacks for their idiocy. Bobby Lee would NOT have approved! Southern anti black KKK slowly dwindled into insignificance by the late 1980s. Good riddance to bad rubbish!

But taking down Confederate statues is ignorantly throwing the baby out with the bath water! It's promoting junk history! America is dumber because of it.
