I actually agree with you. Just cause they're not an everydown player, people think just grab them later. The amount of games I can count off the top of my head the saints lost because of a relatively easy kick (either for or against) is pretty high. Hartley vs Falcons, Packers. Lutz vs Giants, Broncos and Panthers. And then all the near 60 yarders Matt Bryant crushed against us for game winners over the years. We haven't had a reliable kicker since Carney. Lutz had a lot of mistakes last year but the potential is there. It looks like he's learned to get them over the line and if that's the case, we could finally have a good one. Jury is still out but I'm hopeful for this year.

2 of those 3 games for Lutz weren't even on him. Only one on him was Panthers on a low kick.

All because they can win or lose the game at a critical point doesn't make them that much more important.

I lone last drive. I'll give you a qb like Ryan Fitzpatrick and an automatic kicker from under 50. You still have to move the ball 50 yards to get there. Or would you rather Derek Carr (2nd rounder) with someone like udfa will Lutz?
