The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported that an Atlee team member posted a photo on Snapchat showing six of the girls giving the middle finger. The post was directed at the host club from Kirkland, Washington, which Atlee defeated in the semifinals.

Atlee's manager told the Times-Dispatch that he disagreed with the decision to disqualify the team, saying, "It's a travesty for these girls. Yes, they screwed up, but I don't think the punishment fit the crime."

The host Kirkland team replaced Atlee in the championship.

The team is made up of 12- to 14-year-old girls from the Atlee area near Richmond, Virginia.

They should now post a picture of them flicking off the people who DQ'd them.

What a PC world we live in (I mean, the girls were dumb but suspending them is even more dumb).

Youth sports makes a huge deal about sportsmanship and image like the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, etc.

It's not a right to play LL; you join their organization, you abide by the rules and the spirit of the organization.

Yeah but you have to understand the long-time stance of LL...and all the players know it.

Teams have been DQ'd or had to forfeit a game for refusing to line-up and slap hands after the game...let alone giving the middle finger to the opposing team...especially after you won and gloating.

Little League is huge on respecting your opponent.

The girls should have known that.

This is a highly ridiculous situation.

Per Richmond Times Dispatch, the tournament director is from Kirkland. Not only was Atlee disqualified, but Kirkland advanced despite having already lost.
